Happy Easter!

04-01-2018Weekly ReflectionRev. John C. Granato

My Dear Friends,

Today is Easter Sunday! Christus resurrexit! Resurrrexit vere! Khristos anesti! Alithos anesti! Christos voskrese! Voistinu voskrese! Chrystus zmartwychwstał! Prawdziwie zmartwychwstał! Cristo è risorto! È veramente risorto! ¡En verdad resucitó! Le Christ est ressuscité! En verité il est ressuscité! Christ is risen! Truly, He is risen!!

Today Our Lord Jesus Christ has risen from the dead and freed us from unending death and opened the gates of Heaven for all who believe. He came for the Latins and the Greeks. He came for the Slovaks and the Polish. He came for the Italians and the Irish. He came for the Germans and the Spanish. He came for the French and the English. He came for the Filipinos and the Koreans and the Vietnamese and the Indonesians. He came for all peoples of the world, for He is the Savior of the world. On this Easter Sunday we remember all of our blessings that God has bestowed on us. We remember the many times we have been blessings for others. We are united as one people under one God. We are the one body of Christ united to our Head, Jesus Christ. We are truly blessed, especially here in Torrington, for God is in our midst. He is here, truly present, in our churches and in our families. He is truly present as He feeds us with his Body and Blood at every Mass. Jesus has promised us that where He is we also may be, where He is going we know the way. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life! He is the Resurrection! If we die with Christ we know that we will also live with Christ! Death has no power over us anymore, for Jesus has conquered death once and for all so that we may have eternal life. Easter is one long celebration as we celebrate Easter Sunday every day of the week for eight days as we say as a Church, Today is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad! We finish our week long Easter celebration with a holy hour of Divine Mercy on April 8th at St. Mary's Church as we receive our Lord's enduring mercy.

May you have a blessed Easter Sunday and come to know the Risen Lord in your life.
