Add Sat, Jul 2 - Sun, Jul 3
You can show loving kindness and encouragement to the less fortunate and help area food banks feed the hungry in our community by donating a non-perishable food item to our monthly food collections.
We are no longer able to hold our monthly “Drive-Thru Food Drives” but you can still donate to the food banks through our parish. Non-perishable items such as Pasta, Pasta Sauce, Rice, Tuna, Mac & Cheese, Canned Fruits and Vegetables, Instant Potatoes, Side Dishes, Beans, Juices, Peanut Butter, Jelly and Cereal may be left at St. Peter or St. Francis churches the weekend of Jul 2/3.
All donated food will now be delivered to Stock the Shelves, an initiative to help address ongoing food and essential-living insecurity in Northwest Connecticut.
All donations will continue to be distributed to local agencies including FISH, Friendly Hands, the Community Soup Kitchen of Torrington, and Open Door Soup Kitchen in Winsted. For more information about Stock the Shelves, visit their website at www.stocktheshelvesnwct.org.
Monetary donations are still greatly appreciated and checks may still be made out to FISH and Friendly Hands. Please remember that the food banks cannot accept expired food.
