Eucharistic Minister Ministry
Extraordinary ministers of holy Communion are those women and men who have received a mandate to share in the apostolic work of the Church. The responsibilities of an extraordinary minister of holy Communion include the reverent and secure distribution of holy Communion when needed at Mass. In addition, an extraordinary minister of holy Communion can also bring holy Communion to the home bound as well as to those in nursing homes.
To serve as an extraordinary minister of holy Communion, a person must:
- Be a practicing Catholic, distinguished in their Christian life, faith and morals.
- Be at least 19 years old.
- Have received the sacraments of baptism, holy Communion and confirmation.
- Demonstrate a deep reverence for and devotion to the Eucharist.
- Be an active registered member of a parish in the Archdiocese of Hartford.
